The great wave

The Great Wave off Kanagawa is a famous woodblock print made by Japanese ukiyo-e painter and printmaker of the Edo period, Katsushika Hokusai(1760–May 10, 1849). He is best known by his work, Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji (1826–33) which is both a response to a domestic travel boom and a part of a personal obsession with Mount Fuji. Certainly most famous print from this series is a so called Great Wave or simply The Wave which I am offering here to enyoj and I suggest you to visit this web page (http://www.katsushikahokusai.org/)  where you can find  a lot more work from this great master of Japanese art.
